Vosseler Pro-Flyfishing DC4 Series Fly Reel Review
Here we go,

Vosseler fly reels
Description: Model DC4

On The Eye’s: Very Easy!

I showed this Vosseler reel off a bit, everyone said the same thing, "Beauty!" Followed shortly by, "Where did you get that?!" I have to agree, It is a beautiful reel.
Made in Germany, like so many other finely machined products, this reel is no exception. Top of the line all the way, well thought out in function and design.
Light, at 179 gr., perfectly smooth drag system with self lubrication brake pins and the option to switch from a large arbor spool to a standard spool allows you to jump up or down four line classes. Oh yes, everything about this reel says, German engineering.

Using it on salmon, steelhead and bass without a hitch. Unintentionally abusing it too. This reel didn’t have it easy, no way. After catching and landing a good sized fish, I got all excited and dropped it in the sand. Half in the sand, in somewhat fast running water for some time, the reel, of course sucked up a ton of grit. I picked it up, gave the handle a 1/4 turn and could hear the sand grinding inside. I cringed at the thought of damaging it, quickly poked myself in the eye with a stick and rinsed it off in the same fast running water. After about a 3 second rinse, it was smooth as silk once more. Nothing, absolutely perfect. I know this is not right, you should not put your reel through that kind of abuse ever. But stink happens. I did this on a few more occasions, well maybe a total of 4 times with the same result. Quick rinse, good as new, quick rinse, good as new etc. I am a little embarrassed about this, and will try not let this behavior become a habit, but it does make for a good review.

Now I would figure this high end reel would be around the 500 and up dollar mark. It must be huge dough right? Wrong, on the price anyway. Definitely high end, but at 169.-€, about $280 CDN this thing is a steal!

The reel looks great in the photos, but when you have in your hand is when it really hits you. Turn the handle, listen to the click, see the workmanship up-close. This is a piece of work, Sold.

One more thing, for the big guns, see Ralf Vosseler’s S-Series reel (ST10-12 +180m). I was lucky enough to see some huge close up images of this reel and it is awesome.

This reel rates a very strong ten out of ten. The price is just an extra bonus and nice to see deals are still out there.
