J.Roland 7′6″ Fly Rod Review

J.Roland Rods 7′6″ 3/4 wt. Little Bushkill
Appropriately named the Little Bushkill, it is a perfect small stream rod with enough backbone to handle the unexpected brutes you hope to run into.

I thought this would be a great rod setup for the Credit and the like. I was right. Handling the dries with pinpoint accuracy and enough power to throw around the weighted nymphs More Info On Nymphs when called upon.
At 7′ 6", its perfect for tight situations. Many times I was thankful of its stoutness when bushwhacking and casting under heavily treed banks. I used a light weight reel loaded with 4wt line and it balanced out perfectly.
You could go with a short 2wt, but in my opinion this rod set up gives you a little more versatility.

The components of this rod are all top notch. Blank: Batson 7′6" 3 pc. 3/4 weight matt black finish, Guides: PacBay titanium with silicon carbide insert on the stripping guide, Reel seat: Struble slideband, nickel silver hardware with teak insert. Heavy guage aluminum rod tube and rod sock included.

I had this rod out a dozen or so times trying all kinds of flies in all kinds of situations in the conditions it was meant to be fished. It didn’t disappoint.

A very nice setup that casts beautifully and at a cost of only $285 US. Next time your thinking of a new rod purchase, give Jack a call at J. Roland Rods, (973) 625-8567.
